Welcome to our ambitious series on the history of HIV/AIDS.
In this series, we’ll explore the journey of the epidemic from 1980 to the present day in one-year installments. Each installment will delve deeply into a year of the pandemic, examining the major events, discoveries, celebrities, politicians, and writers who played a crucial role in the HIV/AIDS story.
We’ll look at what these individuals did (or, ahem, didn’t do), what they said (verbatim), and how their actions and words impacted the course of the pandemic.
We’ll also explore how the epidemic affected the lives of gay men, whether they suffered from the disease or not.
Our aim is to provide an in-depth and engaging exploration of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, using actual quotes and anecdotes to bring the story to life.
We hope that by examining the history of the epidemic, we can shed light on the impact it has had on individuals and society at large. The fight against HIV/AIDS continues as we work towards finding a cure.
We hope this series will contribute to a body of knowledge that can help us deal with future pandemics.
